What is iRhythm Technologies? 

iRhythm Technologies is revolutionizing patient care through their Zio cardiac monitor product line. By replacing traditional Holter monitors with intelligent technology, they're transforming patient experiences while streamlining the diagnostic process. Their mission is to make cardiac monitoring more effective for clinicians and more comfortable for patients.

The Challenge 

As iRhythm prepared to launch their next-generation ambulatory cardiac monitor and patient journey app, they needed to drum up anticipation for both healthcare providers and patients. The challenge was communicating their complex technical innovations while maintaining engaging, accessible narratives that would resonate with audiences.

The Ask 

Having previously served as iRhythm's Communications Editor, I was brought back as a creative consultant to develop a suite of launch videos. The primary focus: creating a compelling sizzle reel for their MyZio app that would showcase its features while building excitement for the launch.

Embracing Creative Freedom 

Given minimal creative direction, I had the opportunity to shape the narrative from the ground up. This freedom was balanced by my deep understanding of iRhythm's journey and mission in the cardiac monitoring space. The challenge wasn't just about showcasing features — it was about telling the story of how this technology transforms the patient care experience.

Original Approach 

The foundation of this project was understanding exactly what made the MyZio app revolutionary. Through close collaboration with the product design team, I identified the core features that would most impact patient experience and provider efficiency, namely wear-time coaching, symptom logging, and live support. This understanding shaped the multimedia strategy, which needed to balance technical demonstration with emotional resonance.

I approached the video production as a coalescence of elements: custom animations showcasing interface details, carefully timed sequences highlighting key features, music that enhanced emotional impact, and professional voice-over narration that guided viewers through the experience. Each element worked in harmony, creating a compelling narrative that would resonate with both healthcare providers and patients.

Implementation Strategy 

The production process focused on blending technical demonstration and emotional staying power. The videos were crafted in After Effects, where brand-aligned motion graphics were integrated with real product imagery, creating cohesive visuals that emphasized functionality and accessibility. This approach helped viewers connect with the technology on both practical and emotional levels.

Results and Impact 

The videos became a cornerstone of iRhythm's app launch, successfully introducing complex features in an accessible format that drove understanding and adoption. With social proof videos on patient results, internal videos promoting our best-performing assets, and public educational videos, the project created reusable visual assets that strengthened iRhythm's position as an innovator in cardiac monitoring.
